another late night

up late. i finished three new songs over the last couple of days. . posting them all over some DJ's page on f-book. the reactions in the first day are interesting, and encouraging,. i've been blending ideas pretty fluidly lately..recently learned about side chain compression. its amazing that i never new for all these years, who would thought, it goes to show how much there still is to learn. (a good life's philosophy there)
I'm launching a web site. posting songs to some online stores, and of course there's this blog... soon i'll be posting some live performances from my bassment on you tube... all in preparation for a new idea i've found.. an article in electronic music magazine about jonathan coulton.. who launched an indie music carreer by releasing, and giving away a song a week. i think he called it his "song a week thing" . each track was then also available through online retailers. damn.
i've been writing at least a song a week for a long time now. producing music has become playing music. i know that i need to get this stuff out there. i'd love to be making a living as a musician. what musician wouldn't... but really i just want people to enjoy what i'm doing. not just the perfect polished fancy pieces, but some of the more interesting as well.
its a lot of work. i'm giving myself until 01/01/10 to launch.
there's a plan here. promote the blog. then youtube. then the song sharing. (i've got to get online distribution set up before launching, which is whats going to take up most of my energy.)
i'll be updating the developements here.
I'm planning on calling my track give away promotion "Making Tracks" watch for it soon...lots of good tunes, and in any variety of styles, both within and out of electronic music genres.

musical tip:
neat arpeggios can be developed by running one instrument up a scale, and another down. (like D-G-A-D (and so on) on one, and D-A-G-D on two) layering this technique will create some very interesting chording
